Also, today is Mr. Rogers birthday! I loooooved Mr. Rogers, his sinnging, his cardigan sweaters and the Neighborhood of Makebelieve…he was the man!!! If you think of it, be sure to wear a sweater (preferably, a cardigan) today in his honor, and remember to say hi to your neighbor. :)

“Soooo, let’s make the most of this beautiful day
Since we’re together we might as well say
Would you be mine, could you be mine
Won’t you be my neighbor

Won’t you please…won’t you please
Please, won’t you be, my neighbor”

“Won’t you be my neighbor” song & lyrics by Fred Rogers

This is definitely one of my favorite days of the years for many many reasons but mostly because we (in America) celebrating being Irish and all things GREAT that come “Irish”!!!

Also, everyone wears green and THAT, my friends, makes me smile!

I myself won’t get to partake in any St. Paddy’s Day festivities, but I did over the weekend with an excellent meal at the Celtic Knot in Evanston (fish & chips with curry gravy) and a blue moon and then a black & blue (never had one of those before…it wasn’t bad!) The best part was Ivan and I got there at the perfect time, we got (miraculously) a table that was right infront of the stage where a two man band from Ireland was setting up to play.

The guy, something O’Tim or other, was AWESOME and I assumed he was from American when I saw his green t-shirt that said 100% Chi-rish! But then he spoke with a gooooooorgeous Irish accent and I melted.

He and his friend sang and played some GREAT Irish music ranging from classic dance folk music (that just makes me want to get up and soft toe!!!) and some lovely love songs that are always with a hint of deep sadness over a lover lost…oh so typical Irish. LOVE IT! I got both his CD’s…now I’ve got some great Irish music to listen to.

At one point I turned to Ivan and said, “It’s like we’ve got the none famous Damien Rice here tonight” and it was true. His voice was like an angels…an IRISH angels…I’m a sucker for accents.

I think I’ve decided when I date someone again (*if* I date someone again?) I want them to have some sexy accent! Not some mid-west crap. And if they aren’t foreign, then at least I want them to have a snappy east coast accent (no, I’m not talking a Bronx accent either…I’m talking Washington DC or there abouts…clean, crisp, concise, smart and sexy).

That all sounds a bit snotty doesn’t it? I appologize…I’m feeling a bit fiesty today I guess. And I can’t imagine why – I only got 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night!!!

That’s why I can’t do anything tonight…more work to do after work and school today. Bumm-errr!!!

Ah well, I hope everyone has a LOOOOVELY day and enjoys all the festivities and celebrations and is sure to drive safely and drink responsibly tonight!!!

Cheerio!
