Favorite Five; Day 57

Thursday, January 7th, 2010 11:28 pm

Today’s favorite five are:

  1. “Why haven’t you written a book yet?” falls under the category of best unintentional compliment of the day! Oh MU – you’re such a keeper! ;) But seriously, I have always dreamt and imagined I’d write a book of some kind one day. I usually imagined it would be a memoir of sorts but I think perhaps Chameleon and thesis are taking care of that in a way. It probably would still be a memoir, but one that concentrated on one main topic or theme throughout my life (instead of the whole story) where I’d hopefully be able to make my readers laugh. The ultimate goal; making my readers laugh out loud, which my dear sir told me I made him do so today. AWESOME!
  2. My new eyeshadow brush. I’m really getting girlie with these posts lately aren’t I?! (Sorry fellas!) Seriously though, it’s a great brush and the price makes it unbeatable. I’m totally into Eyes Lips Face and think their product line is very solid. Of course there are a few misses with what they offer, but this basic eye shadow brush is the bomb! It makes my very inexpensive Cover Girl eyeshadow (colour Tapestry Taupe – 760) go on even more smoothly than the little applicator it comes with making it look even better! It’s such an inexpensive product that now looks like a high end one! LOVE LOVE LOVE the combo! WOOT! (for the record and those that are interested, these two items are part of my “daily essentials” that I use/wear religiously.) This combo is so good that I inspired my sister Terra to go out and get the same eyeshadow color and a similar brush. Unfortunately since she needed the brush immediately, she had to spend a bit more money – but the idea is still the same; an even and smooth application of the product really ups the look from ok to WOW!
  3. Email from my lovely friend Lindy and a phone call with my bestie Hillary…I have the GREATEST friends!!!
  4. Today’s FaceBook color status fun – I was laughing on and off all day long as that went on…I’m annoyed with people who tried to spoil the fun with spilling the beans, but whatever…they are probably the adult version of kids who try and tell other kids that Santa Clause doesn’t exist! Anyway…if you don’t have facebook, you have no idea what I’m talking about anyway, so for you this fave five may seem pointless.
  5. FUNNY OR DIE! OMG – it’s a danger zone on that site. I can’t stop laughing at some of the skits on there. I would LOVE to work for that place…le sigh. But I am gonna leave you with one clip I watched today that made me giggle soooo much, especially through the end. It’s sooooo wrong that it’s sooooo RIGHT! ENJOY!

Style tip of the day!

Some of you may know a bit about the work I’m doing for my thesis. It is partially dealing with body image issues and concerns and how those issues play into our lives. Kinda…

Anyway, part of my research has been to do something I already LOVE and have been doing years (woot) which is finding great beauty tips and secrets! If we’re friends, I’ve probably shared such tips with you as I saw fit, becuase I want everyone to benefit from the fun facts I learn!

One of my favorite looks of all time is the smokey eye/nude lip combo. I’m a HUGE fan. HUGE! It’s not a look that one can easily pull off for the day to day routine, but it’s a great evening out look or perfect for dramatic pictures (where I seem to be employing the look most these days).

Today I stumbled upon a tutorial for a really quick and easy smokey eye. While it’s pretty basic, it definitely does the trick! For those of you out there that are more advanced with your make-up application, you will quicly find ways to up the anti on this look so have a look! For those of you out there a little less make-up inclined this is still a GREAT tutorial! Wanted to pass it on for all to enjoy!

Cheers,
Devin
